My name is James Eichenberger, I am a home owner in the River Woods Association in Burnsville, MN. After some brief conversations with my neighbors and fellow home-owners here in River Woods, I wanted to develop a more accessible and democratic means to communicate with one another, and ultimately, the association.
This is NOT a blog to simply register complaints, but rather to suggests improvements and communicate with each other. This is a very unofficial count, but in reviewing recent newsletters it seems like the 6 or 10 people who show up to the home owners association meeting are making decisions for the rest of us. My guess is a lot of people are like me in that they are concerned about how their $195 per month is being spent, but do not have time to attend the meetings to have their voices heard. If members of the River Woods Home Owners Association can use this blog to join together and send a representative to the association meetings, we can be very effective.
If you have a problem that you need communicated directly to the Home Owners Association, this is not the means to do it. This blog is not maintained or monitored by the HOA. If you need to address something with the Home Owners Association, please contact them directly.
Ideally, I'd like this blog to serve as a means for the "silent majority" in this association to make their voices heard. What are your concerns? What do you feel are the most important issues or projects that the HOA needs to address?
Do you have a lawn? Or a patch of dirt instead like I do?
Dead trees in your yard that have already been reported? Me too.
Vines killing the few trees you still have alive, reported that too, no response? Yup...Me too.
Again, the point isn't to complain about this, but really to measure and record exactly how many of these problems are out there, and report them in numbers, so instead of being a group of individuals with individual (and perhaps dismissable) concerns, we can be a group of 10, 20, or maybe even a hundred people, and we can get what we want. After all, we all pay the same $195 per month, so why should the people with the time to show up to the meetings get to make all of the decisions?
I look forward to hearing from you! You can feel free to comment on this blog, or email me directly at jameseichen77@comcast.net.
Have a great day neighbors!
